Mary Goldmintz is a young artist who has “finally find her own melody” as she puts it. “I feel like I found the way to combine the Israeli and Jewish atmosphere I’m living in, my mothers art, which I’ve been exposed to since I’m a small child, and my own artistic perspective”. Unlike the subjects of her sculptures, her art technique is not traditional. The sculptures are made of layered steel cut-outs. She reproduces them in series of up to 150 copies, hand painted ,signed and numbered.
Goldmintz adopted a special painting technique using a fan brush to covers the metals surface. The fan brush unifies the paint surfaces and intensifies the feeling of momentum. The matching shadow, which forms when the cut-outs hang against the wall, forms an integral part of Goldmintz’ sculptures.
Goldmintz was born in Malha, a southern Jerusalem neighborhood, in 1972. Between 1994-1998 she got her academic education in the Bezalel Academy for art. In 1999 she opened her own studio, working as designer. In the last few years she returned to pure art, collaborating with her mother, Bracha Lavee. Today she is living in Ora, a quite neighborhood out side of Jerusalem. She is married to Micha and mother to Noa and Maya.
The sculptures are up to three layers. There sizes move from about 10” inch and up to 60” inch. There price ranges from about $300 to $5000.
